The Colorado Children’s Chorale National Tour Choir sang “Another Brick in the Wall” with Brit Floyd, a British Pink Floyd tribute band on Friday, September 28 at the renowned Red Rocks Amphitheater. The benefit concert for Colorado Public Television was part of the Chorale’s annual community service.
What was it like to sing on such a big stage, with rock stars and thousands of people in the audience? We asked the children to share their experience — see their comments below.
“It was amazing! There were so many people in the crowd that we couldn’t even the see the top row.”
“An amazing experience that I will never forget for the rest of my life!”
“I was very excited to be on stage with a professional rock band and sing “Another Brick in the Wall.” When we walked on stage everyone started to stand up and scream. The audience sang along with us.”
“There were so many amazing multi-colored laser lights flashing in every direction. The music was really loud and by the time we went on (stage) the crowd was going crazy! There were so many people and for the first time in my performing career I was a little nervous, but it was fun! I loved performing at Red Rocks!!!“
“Interestingly different from what the Chorale usually does, but quite an amazing experience.”
“Even though it may have lasted for a minute, it was worth two million other, lesser moments. Being on stage and performing at Red Rocks was one of those things in life that was worth all of the effort. It is one of those things that I will tell my grandchildren!”
“It was fun seeing how into the show the audience was”
“It was exhilarating!”
“This is the first rock and roll concert I’ve been to. Red Rocks is a pretty amazing place to perform. I especially liked the light show, and fog of course!”
“It was loud and flashy but a lot of fun.”
“Fun, special and amazing are just a few words that would describe my experience performing with Brit Floyd at Red Rocks. I was so excited to have this opportunity, and it was truly a very memorable one at that. This just goes to show how the Colorado Children’s Chorale has a very wide variety of strengths and a passion to try new things.”
“Very cool, I was most excited when the audience sang along and really got into it!”
“I just want to thank the Chorale for the incredible experience at Red Rocks Amphitheater. I probably will never get to do that again but I will never forget it.”
“I learned a new word — ‘collywobbles’. It means a stomach-ache! I learned this when one of the band members said to another member, “I’ve got the collywobbles.”
“When we walked out onto the stage and we saw all those people there I was honestly terrified. When they saw us everyone jumped up and started screaming, and afterwards everyone was coming up and telling us how happy they were that we were in the concert. It was really fun to see Brit Floyd and it was really cool to see the audience dancing and singing along. It was an amazing experience that I will remember forever.”
“It was surreal knowing that I was on the same stage as The Beatles, Jason Mraz and many other amazing artists.”
“The audience goes up, up forever and you can’t see the end”.
