It is a quiet couple of weeks for the Children’s Chorale. The flurry of fall activities (from first rehearsals for Prep and Apprentice Choirs and early-season performances for Concert and Tour Choirs to wardrobe fittings and Mini-Golf) has subsided and we are hard at work preparing for the coming-oh-so-soon Christmas with the Children’s Chorale. This weekend is one of the first with no performances or activities scheduled. Well, almost. A loud and lusty BRAVO goes out to sixteen intrepid Regional Tour Choir members who have put in countless hours of rehearsal time for Opera Colorado’s production of La Bohème. They have been absolutely delightful and professional to the core as they prepared for this challenging assignment. This weekend (Friday at 7:30pm and Sunday at 2pm) will find them on stage at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House for performances three and four, with the final next Tuesday at 7:30pm. They’d love to see you in the audience!
If you are looking for some family time this weekend, you might consider Amazon Voyage-Vicious Fishes and Other Riches at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Or how about the Saturday (Nov. 13) free day at the Denver Zoo? On your way in, look for the life-sized stainless steel animal sculptures wandering throughout the plaza. Can you find six gazelles? Three giraffes? Three baboons? Two gerenuks…and what is a gerenuk, anyway? A crocodile? A leopard? A lioness and her two cubs? They’re all there!! And don’t forget to say “hi” to the monkeys for us.
Have a great weekend, however you choose to enjoy it!
