Bright and early on April 21, 36 National Tour Choir members of the Colorado Children’s Chorale plus eight staff members set out on their 12-day tour through the Northwest.
The first stop on tour was Sheridan, Wyoming. It took nearly seven hours by bus from Denver to reach this city of about 15,000 people. We reached the Wyo Theater in Sheridan around 3 p.m. and later in the afternoon, National Tour Choir members did a workshop with the Sheridan County Youth Chorale.
Some of the Chorale members worked with the Sheridan County Children’s Chorale, made up of 3rd-5th graders, to learn the music and choreography to the song “Monkeys in the House.” The other half of the CCC worked with the Youth Chorale (which is 5th-8th graders) on the music and choreography to “A Child of Song.” The two groups will have a chance to sing together again on Thursday when the Children’s Chorale performs in the evening for the Sheridan community at the Wyo Theater. Earlier on Thursday, the Chorale will be performing for a school assembly. Families of the Sheridan County Youth Chorale have graciously opened their homes and are hosting the Chorale members for two nights.
